GENERAL INFORMATION


"The Home" is situated in a pleasant area of Southport, by Hesketh Park and not far from the town centre. The building has been modernised and extended over the years and is registered as a residential care home by Care Quality Commission to accommodate 25 people. We also have self contained flats at the rear of the building, these are supported under the umbrella of the home and our flat dwellers integrate with the residents daily.


"The Home" offers accommodation, in a Jewish environment, to elderly people who can no longer manage on their own and who need to seek residential care. We also have residents of other faiths and we accommodate their religious needs where necessary. When we have a room available we also welcome short stay visitors.


Each Resident has a single bedroom which is equipped with a small en suite facility, bathrooms and showers are situated close by. A couple of our larger rooms have their own shower facility. It is our aim to provide a pleasant friendly atmosphere where each Resident can feel "at home". To this end a new Resident is encouraged to bring some personal belongings, such as photographs, pictures and ornaments, to personalise their room. Residents may also bring their own television.


We have a beautiful Synagogue on the premises where prayers are said daily and services are held on the Sabbath and to celebrate all the Festivals.


There are three lounges, one of which can be used for social events, and a beautifully furnished and heated conservatory overlooking the garden. All meals are prepared by experienced cooks, with Kashrut strictly observed, and waitress service in the two dining rooms. The building is centrally heated and all the rooms are connected to a push-button emergency call system. There are two lifts to all floors.

We have fully experienced and trained staff on duty, day and night, however, residents are encouraged to look after themselves and a member of staff is always on hand to help where necessary. Residents have a choice of G.P. who can be called in to see them, or arrangements made to visit the surgery.


Residents are encouraged to live full and as normal lives possible, visiting the town centre for shopping, but for those unable to go out we have a weekly shop selling confectionery, soft drinks and toiletries.


Personal clothing is laundered regularly on the premises, with dry cleaning collected as and when required.


Arrangements can be made for a “buddy” to attend to help. As part of the social activities of the Home, regular Bingo sessions are held as well as keep fit classes, occupational therapy, topical discussions and games. Video films and piped music provide additional entertainment. Local summer outings are arranged and parties are organised to celebrate the minor Jewish festivals and national celebrations.


Visitors are welcome to call at any reasonable time without prior notice, with friends and relatives being encouraged to visit regularly, as it is important that Residents do not lose touch with the outside world.


Anyone wishing to know more about the Home or considering residency is welcome to arrange a visit with the Manager and Chairman, to meet the staff and Residents and to view the facilities we offer and call "Home".


FEES

Our fees are assessed annually (please email for current fees) and applied from 1st May each year. The fees are payable one week in advance. In appropriate circumstances new Residents can apply to Sefton Social Services for financial help towards their fees. They will also be expected to claim Attendance Allowance where applicable.


ADDITIONAL CHARGES

A separate charge will be due for dry-cleaning and any prescribed drugs not available through the N.H.S. Residents are expected to cover any rental/hire charges for private televisions, telephones, and escort duty. Residents valuables are not insured under the Home's Insurance Policy and the Home can take no responsibility for personal belongings or valuables; therefore, we recommend that Residents take out their own insurance policy.
